Families continue to travel, in search of experiences that create closer bonds and lasting memories. Families whose members are geographically separated, and/or who find quality time together harder and harder to come by, often find multi-generational trips a good opportunity to reconnect. Add to that the affordability of travel and the desire among Boomers to check off items on their travel bucket list, and multi-generational travel is fast becoming one of the most popular trends in the industry. It used to be that one out of six trips were multi-generational; today it’s one out of three. By 2020 there will be 90 million active grandparents in the U.S. and Canada alone. Now more than ever, grandparents are making time with their grandkids their top priority - including vacation trips and weekend getaways. “Skip-gen” trips, where grandparents take grandchildren on special adventures, letting the parents experience their own time off, are also becoming more popular.

Multi-generational travel is a trend that’s likely to continue, because it checks off so many boxes. Not only do such trips provide quality time for families to reconnect in today’s fast-paced world, they’re a fun getaway for kids and an opportunity for the entire family to share experiences. And fortunately, the number one destination for multi-generational travel is...the beach!
